This coffee comes from the Nebilyer Valley in Central Papua New Guinea.  It is grown by Brian Leahy, whose family first came to the country in the 1930’s.  There’s is one of the first coffee plantations, built on native-owned land between the Ulga and Kolga tribes, as a buffer zone.  They take the pulp from the coffee processing, and use earthworms to compost it into organic fertilizer

This is a microlot that was handpicked by the farm owner so that only the ripe berries are chosen. It’s a honey process, meaning that some of the mucilage is left intact while the beans dry.  This gives it a distinct fruit flavor in the cup, and you’ll taste honey, cocoa, and blackberries with hints of orange  in the cup.  It’s a delicious bean, straight from the highlands of Papua New Guinea
